Altar Drums and Ornaments

After a good cleaning and refinishing of the wood, Knowlton & Ring rebuilt, gilded, and hand-lined over 200 plaster and wooden drums and countless other ornamental elements that had been cracked, worn, and in some cases completely painted over on five early 1900’s wooden altars. A 23k red gold leaf was chosen to preserve the softness found in the patina of the original elements. The congregation celebrated a much more luminous and lively sanctuary at the church’s reopening just in time for Easter Sunday.
